지난 24년 1월 15일 ~ 18일 일정으로 태국 시밀란 리브어보드를 다녀왔습니다.

이 배는 23년 10월 경 리모델링한 새로운 배로 아주 훌륭했습니다. 새로 런칭한 배라 리뷰가 많이 없습니다.

전직 프로그래머 출신의 Boat Leader인 Nick은 매우 친절하며 많은 경험을 가지고 있습니다. 그는 매우 유능한 포토그래퍼이자 리더입니다.

그와 매일 저녁 술을 마시며 나누는 이야기는 매우 즐거웠습니다.

승선 전 까지 모델링 이미지만 보다가 실제 배를 탔을 때 100% 일치하는 것을 확인했습니다.

크루들은 매우 친절했으며, 음식 또한 훌륭하고 다양하였습니다

• 20명 이상의 다이버를 충분히 수용할 수 있는 넓은 공간이 많습니다.
• 특히 공용 공간인 라운지에는 대형 TV, 안락한 소파, PS5, 닌텐도 스위치 등 다양한 휴식거리가 잘 구비되어 있습니다.

• 최상층에는 자쿠지가 마련되어 있습니다. 다만, 이동 시 물이 넘치는 관계로 상시 운영하지 않고, 특정 기간에만 운영합니다.

• Main Deck과 Lower Deck의 방은 창문의 유무만 다르고 크기 등이 완전히 동일합니다.
  방은 충분히 넓으며 29인치 캐리어 2개를 침대 앞에 펼처놓을 수 있고, 벽면에 별도의 수납공간도 제공됩니다.

• 화장실이 매우 쾌적합니다.
• 담수화 시설이 되어 있어서, 온수 등을 시간과 양에 구애받지 않고 마음껏 사용할 수 있습니다.(최대 강점

• 크루들은 업무 분장이 아주 잘되어 있고, 매우 친절합니다.
• 보이지 않는 곳에서도 청결 유지에 힘쓰고 있습니다.
• 문제가 발생하면 해결하기 위해 매우 적극적입니다.
• 팁을 강제하고 있지 않으나, 아끼지 마세요. 받을 자격이 있는 크루들입니다.
  (저는 주방담당, 보트선장, 보트크루, 청소크루에게 각 500바트씩, 공용 팁 통에 1천바트를 넣었습니다)

• 시밀란 투어는 초/중급 다이버들에게 매우 훌륭한 코스를 제공합니다.
• 적절한(?) 조류도 경험할 수 있습니다.
• 시기에 따라 Manta Ray 도 볼수 있습니다.
• 엄청나게 많은 물고기 떼를 만날 수 있으며, 산호, 치어떼, 큰 물고기들의 스쿨링 등을 경험할 수 있습니다. 카메라는 필수입니다.
• 나이트록스가 무료입니다!!!! (자격증 필수)
• 일반 댕기 보트가 아닌 텐더 보트 2대를 보유하고 있어 입출수가 매우 쉽습니다. 크루들은 모든 장비를 옮겨주며 다이버들은 몸만 이동하면 됩니다.
• 투어 중간, 섬에 들러 낮은 언덕을 오르는 프로그램이 있습니다. 반드시 수영복을 착용하시고 물에 젖으면 안되는 것들은 방수팩 등을 이용하세요. 텐더보트에서 연안에 내린 후 허리 깊이의 바닷물을 건너야 합니다.

음식: ★★★★★

• 음료는 무료입니다! (일반 콜라/환타 및 직접 만든 과일음료 등 무료 제공)
• 태국 음식이 메인으로 서빙됩니다.
• 맥주(Leo, Chang, Tiger)는 60바트 입니다. (단, 수량이 많지 않으므로 선점하세요, 100병 미만)

• 평소 리브어보드 승선 시 필요한 준비물 등이 다 갖추어져 있습니다.
• 매우 충분한 양의 빨래집게가 있습니다.
• 샴푸/컨디셔너 등이 구비되어 있습니다.
• 헤어 드라이어가 제공됩니다.
• 별도의 카메라 룸에서는 충분한 수의 전자기기를 충전할 수 있습니다.
• 가격이 배의 컨디션에 비해 매우 저렴합니다. 앞으로 인기가 많아 질 것으로 예상합니다. 차터들은 예약을 서두르세요.

We went on the Similan Liveaboard in Thailand from January 15-18, 24.

The ship was brand new, remodeled around October 23, and was very nice – there aren’t a lot of reviews because it’s so new.

Nick, the boat leader, a former programmer, is very friendly and has a lot of experience. He is a very capable photographer and leader.

Talking to him over drinks every evening was very enjoyable.

We had only seen modeling images until we got on board, and when we got on the actual boat, we saw a 100% match.

The crew was very friendly and the food was excellent and varied

Ship Conditions: ★★★★★

There are plenty of spacious areas to accommodate 20+ divers.

The common area, the lounge, is especially well equipped with a large TV, comfy sofas, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and other things to relax with.

There is a jacuzzi on the top floor. However, it is not open all the time due to the water overflowing when it is moved, but only during certain periods.

The rooms on the Main Deck and Lower Deck are exactly the same size, differing only in the presence or absence of windows.
The rooms are spacious enough to fit two 29-inch suitcases spread out in front of the bed, and there’s extra storage on the wall.

The restrooms are very comfortable.

They are desalinated, so hot water is available at any time and in any quantity. (Biggest Strengths)

Services: ★★★★★

The crew is very well dressed for the job and very friendly.

They work hard to maintain cleanliness behind the scenes.

If there is a problem, they are very proactive to fix it.

Tipping is not enforced, but please don’t skimp, they deserve it.
(I tipped the chef, boat captain, boat crew, and cleaning crew 500 baht each and put 1000 baht in the shared tip jar)

Tour points: ★★★★★

Similan Tours offers a very good course for beginner/intermediate divers.

You’ll also get to experience some decent (?) currents.

Depending on the time of year, you can also see Manta Ray.

You’ll see tons of schools of fish, coral, schooling fish, and big fish. A camera is a must.

Nitrox is free!!!! (certification required)

They have 2 tender boats rather than a regular dinghy, so getting in and out is very easy. The crew transfers all the gear and divers only need to move their bodies.

In the middle of the tour, there is a stop on the island to climb a low hill. Be sure to wear a swimsuit and use a waterproof pack for anything you don’t want to get wet. After disembarking from the tender boat on shore, you will have to cross waist-deep water.

Food: ★★★★★

Drinks are free! (including regular Coke/Fanta and homemade fruit drinks)

Thai food is served as the main course.

Beer (Leo, Chang, Tiger) is 60 baht. (But get there early as quantities are limited, less than 100 bottles)

Miscellaneous: ★★★★★

Everything you would normally need on a liveaboard is there.

There is a very good supply of clothespins.

Shampoo/conditioner, etc. are available.

Hair dryers are provided.

A separate camera room allows you to charge a good number of electronics.

The price is very affordable for the condition of the ship. I expect it to become very popular in the future. Charterers are advised to book early.
